Switch Pitch Transmission Core available

I have a switch pitch transmission out of Eric Tanner's 78 available. No clue what the cost of something like this would be. (or if there is even a
market for them) It needs to be rebuilt.

I don't have the interest in keeping it in my shed "just in case" bec I don't have a switch pitch and have no interest in getting that type of
transmission.

I'll be driving south (Virginia to Florida) over Christmas and would be happy to deliver it anywhere in between if someone would like it. If someone
would like to pay me money for it, even better. ;)

Let me know.

Thanks,

Have a switch pitch in my 77 eleganza 2. I would not go back to a non
switch after driving with both. But I am almost always towing and climbing
grades. My 2c

I'd be interested if Columbia SC is on the way.

Jared,

What will be your route to FL? If down I-75, it would be barely out of the
way to drop it off here. If down I-95, too far. I personally have no use
for it, but if Manny is indeed coming back here after the first of the
year, he might be willing to rebuild it for "future need". We'd have to
coordinate with him before deciding. He is committed to visiting, but not
to another rebuild session.

Dolf,

There is a switch which can be mounted anywhere within reach and you switch
the pitch manually. If you leave it un switched the trans works just like
normal. As far as differences you would need to ask manny to be sure of all
of them but I do know for certain that the torque converter is different. I
assume there is a different valve body in the trans as well but like I
said, manny is your source for all the particulars. The switch gives me the
ability to keep the motor is its sweet spot when encountering grades.
Without it I would gradually slow on grades until a downshift. Then it
would rev up and speed up until it sensed the need to upshift and shift.
With the switch pitch the speed I travel when towing on grades does not
oscillate so much.

G'day,

I have two of them, one here in Sydney that I purchased from a fellow GMCer for $250 with a 3.21 to final drive and one in the USA I
bought off eBay for $200 with a 3.21 to one final drive as well.

Both were rebuilt by Manny; IIRC the first was around $900 because it had been rebuilt and the second for $1100.
