Surely Not GMCers

Sounds like he is in the wrong business. If you don't want to deal with the public (and all that it entails) you should probably not run a
campground.....

What a lame comment. People including those who are new owners of RVs need to educate themselves.

Thanks,

I think the campground owner got into the business when industry was much different. I'm sure it's hard to keep up with growing demands for spaces,
bigger spaces, electric & electronics needs, less experienced customers with more complex equipment & much different expectations from campers (people
wanting more hotel resort experience with concierge service rather than relaxed night in the woods with new friends).

At least the part about booking early & more completely should be considered a plus, obviously. I personally don't think his complaints are unfounded,
but he probably should accept that the environment has changed, then decide if he can either enjoy it anymore or make it suit him better.

Simple: he (the owner) can lay out his "expectations" as you are browsing
his property.

RVers can then choose whether or not to utilize his property or spend the
night in Wal marts parking lot. :)

Let's face it, we were all newbies at one time. Most get into RVing without
fully understanding all aspects of what is involved. Some learn and some never
will. Yeah sites seem to be closer together and RV manufacturers are pushing bigger
units with LARGE outside speakers and LARGE flat screen TVs. That just drives me
to the state/federal and military campgrounds.

Agreed, everyone starts somewhere. But I agree I wouldn't want to be the one to teach them haha.

Also agreed on the campgrounds. I've not been to many that I like. Too close together and too loud. A good state part with secluded spots is the
ticket for me.

Let me tell you all two short stories.....

I read many other RV sites (even the Newbie page at FB). The newbies seem to fall into two clearly defined groups:
1 - There are those that thought about what they were getting into but have a question.
2 - Those that imagined it might be fun and bought something without much thought. (Apparently)

That first group I will try to help. I have had some wonderful and rewarding exchanges this way.
That second group, as much as I might like, I know that at the other end of a keyboard I can't be much help.
These are real:
When we are not at a campsite, nothing works, only the lights..... (No Roof A/C or Microwave)
We are boondocking the first time and the taps just spit air.....
What do you do (or who do you call) when the toilet fills up? .... This one comes in lots of varieties.
If these people had even bothered to get any book or just call a friend this could have been avoided.

Then there are the FMCA rallies that we have volunteered at a couple of times now. I get myself into the parking crew and always have arranged to be
a guy (often the guy) that is parking the GMC section. The GMC folks, they are given. "There is your spot." Then I can go put out other fires.
By other fires? Well, not literally, but at these rallies there are lots of folks that would have a hard time putting the coach on a runway. At the
last Glama, there were 475 coaches that had to be put somewhere.
The signals we use are simple. We stand where we can see the driver in the mirror.
You turn the wheel as if to turn the way one of us points. If we keep pointing, keep turning.
A hand edge on is come straight with the wheels straight.
If two hands are coming together, that is how much farther you need to go.
A flat hand is hold up.
A fist is stop there.
Got That??

People show up with mega-buck coaches that have no clue what they are doing.....
But, then this last time there was a single lady with a large coach. I indicated where she needed to be. She got out and walked and looked at the
site and her coach and got back in the cab and put it right on the numbers. Before we could even get into position to direct her.
They come in all types.

This next GLAMA, I might get to park trailers too. I can just wait.
