If you remember I just pulled my old Solaire furnace out of my 1976
Palmbeach after finding that the exhaust and intake flues were disconnected
from outside by about 3-4 inches. It was definetley a hazard. In addition
some previous owner had tried to get the furnace out (or had gotten it out
and reinstalled it incorrectly) and most of the screws etc were missing from
the cabinet. The unit did work perfectly before I removed it. I decided to
replace it just because it was old and I did not want to tinker with it
(don't have the time before leaving for Florida with it shortly).

The new suburban furnace arrived this afternoon from Cinnabar. Cant tell
exactly what model it is since looks like it might have been made
specifically for the GMC. The exhaust flues that come with it are angled to
fit the sidewalls of the GMC. Dont know if the regular suburban you can buy
from camping world is. It also comes with regular colored pictures in an
envelope and additional written text that shows exactly how it goes in the
lower cabinet. Looks very easy to install, and since all of the adapters
etc are supplied with the kit, should be fast to install (yeah famous last
words).

Only thing I have to do is fiberglass the old holes up and install it tomorrow.

The furnace cost $525 plus $18.43 shipping from Cinnabar for a total of
$543.53 From Camping World the 30,000 BTU suburban costs $507 ($456.30 if
you are a presidents club member) plus $25 shipping for a total of $481.30
about a $62 difference. Is the extra angled flue and instructions in how to
elevate it to fit properly and the colored pictures worth that much? To me
it is, but you decide.

Tom,
Let us know if it really went in easy or if there are some hiccups when you
actually install it. I was thinking about leaving the old external grill in
place rather than fiber glass patch and paint. (at least until the next
repaint job). The extra is worth it to me if it works.

yep will be glad to starting maybe day after tomorrow. It looks like a very
easy installation and can be installed and removed from the front instead of
the side.

Arch there is another thing Cinnabar did. they suggest a new floor level
with the bottom lip of the cabinet about 4 1/2" thick so you can slip the
furnace in without lifting it. Slides straight in and than the flues slip in
from the outside of the coach and attached with one center screw.
