Is anyone able to give me some type of difinitive answer as to whether
or not the carriage bolts which attach the plywood subfloor to the "u"
brackets around the frame extension are really needed? After replacing
two sections of floor, on examination, it appears that they are not
needed. It seems that this would make a lousy anchor system for the body
to the chassis. If this was the case why would it not bolt through a
major aluminum crossmember or similar? It would be nice to know for sure
before I put new finish floor down. Thanks, Darren:-)

They are most certainly needed. Attaching the body to the frame in this
manor gave some isolation from road vibration. Replace them or make
sure that they have not rusted through. You can put a flooring patch
coat over them to level them so as to not have the flooring wear
abnormally over them if to are putting down a sheet good flooring.
