Jim:

Color charts for all years are in the GMCMI newsletter Issue 4. Do you not
have??

The only place I've heard of that may be able to help you on the stripe is
Grandview Motorhome, 937-644-4238. May also want to try Jim Bounds,
Rush-Buskirk, and Cinnabar.

Jim,
Tell us more about the Stripe removal process...How
it went and how you did it.
Thanks,
Rob Teed

Stripes, oh let me tell you about the stripes. I most likely have a hundred
hours tallied on removing the stripe (but I didn't damage the paint). I used
a hot air blower, a putty knife, and patience. On a warm sunny day I could
make 1 to 2 feet before the finger nails gave out. Then I needed to wait a
couple of days until they quit hurting. I managed to develop a technique
where I could heat and pull a 1" to 1.5" wide strip at a 45-60 degree angle.
I'd get about a 6" long strip.
I found it was difficult to do when the temperature was below 70 degrees.
The colder temperature seem to suck the heat away from the aluminum skin and
the stripe became brittle and broke.
After removing the stripe, you must remove the glue. 3M makes a spray-on
solvent which you apply, let dry for 5 minutes then with a plastic scraper,
remove the glue. It took 3 cans to do the entire coach.
Alternatively, I have heard there is a stripe strip-it on the market that
will remove the stripe and not damage the paint. Maybe someone else has
tried another technique or have friends in the Body Repair business.
Hope this helps!!
