Dave, my 78 GMC Eleganza II had vinyl stripes originally. These were
removed with a heat gun when I had mine repainted from the stripes down.
The body shop that did mine matched the colors of the stripes and painted
them on. Kept colors original. There is still a narrow 3-stripe vinyl
stripe around the top and it illustrates the inevitable fading that occurs,
even though this coach was stored inside for most of it's 20 years. I am
told, and probably Bill Bryant of GMC Int'l could verify, the 78 year
models built and finished as GMC units had loaded-up interiors, that is,
extra cabinet units, etc, so that inventories of these extra-cost options
could be depleted. Mine has the extra Fishing rod holder and cabinet in the
rear and the gun and ammo cabinet in the front, complete with locks keyed
like the door. Ron Freeman 78 Eleganza II
