For the moment.
The handheld is still balking. I'm trying to get my HP Jornada (820) usable
as primary PC on the road. It's small enough to take into an office or
restaurant ( sometime I splurge
yet has a full size screen and it's
battery does last many hours.
At the moment I'm still thinking Goamerica and an AirCard modem to give me
fulltime internet connectivity while in cell (cdpd) coverage. How good that
coverage is remains to be seen, but I'm going to give it a try and workout
as I'm planning I5 South to CA, I10 East to Dallas and back via Denver
during March/April.
One of the problems to resolve is to get the Jornada to send a plain text
email message so that I can do more than just read the gmcnet while
travelling.
BTW,
I'm revamping my 'puter in the rig (again), see
http://www.bytedesigns.com/gmc/computer1.htm
It ended up too big a hassle to move. Too many wires, etc. I'm going to do a
reverse. Large tower under the table on the right side to hold DVD and
interchangable drive trays. Second set of screen, keyboard and mouse will on
the center console. Screen is the Apple flat (love that screen as it's
visible even in sunlight). This way I'm hoping to be able to tie wiring to
wall, etc., i.e. out of the way.
Hopefully that'll work better.
Going to get serios next week after vacuum pump is in and new .060 gapped
plugs are installed. Still hoping for new engine monitor before next trip
but have been getting the once (twice) over with delay after delay.
Cheers
Heinz
