Steering Relay Lever #2

There may be a error in either the parts book or the repair manual
the small lever in the parts book is called the relay lever, in the
repair manual it is called the Idler Arm
The one I am writing about is the one on the passenger side.

I have found mine to have a little movement up and down, when wiggling
the right front wheel. I see there are 2 bushings in this lever, and one
that slides inside from the bottom, to match up with the bolt.
Has any one come up with a good fix on this?

Gary, Just replaced relay lever on my 76. If I recall correctly, I got
it from Cinnabar and paid over 200.00. Old relay appeared to have up
and down play same as yours New relay seems to make absolutly no
difference. Relay lever did go on drivers side , idler arm on passenger
side. Been fighting steering problems for about a month now, can't find
anything that looks loose in front end, have tried adjusting the steering
box and do get a firmer feel at wheel but still wanders. Just took
off steering damper and it is completely worn out, no resistence at all.
Dont really think this is my problem but ordered new one from local part
store.(moog md ssd-55). Will know tomorrow if it helps.

Arch, I'll let you know if this helps. I have my doubts. Yours sounds
like it handles just like mine. I also have replaced shocks on mine.
Three of the rears were completely shot but cant feel any difference
with new ones. Am getting closer to new steering box. Wish someone who
has replaced with NAPA box would chime in on how its working. Otherwise
its Caspro.
