For all of those who have followed the threads (and found them interesting)
over the past six months about steering boxes, I suggest that you get a
copy of the March 2000 Car Craft. It has a very informative article called
Power Steering for the People. It explains the various ratios, various
boxes and sources some custom builders of steering boxes. As a frame of
reference for those who read the article, I upgraded my 93 Chev 4x4 to the
12.7:1 ratio and love it. I upgraded my transmode steering box to the 16:13
variable ratio, and although it was quite an improvement over the old
ratio, I may change it to the 12.7:1.

Yes,
Back in the middle eighties I upgraded my steering column to tilt and
telescope. IIRC I got the info from Alan Creates in Montreal. Since
I'm a true packrat I am sure that I still have the info and could fax.
Personally, I recommend upgrading to the 79-81 Eldo column if
you can find one. Smal;l, fat, leather-covered steering wheel and,
best of all, puts the dimmer switch with the turn-signal lever. With a
little extra effort, you can include the later resume-type cruise and
even the dimmer switch with the flash-to-pass feature. You can
lay waste to all your free time with these little projects.
