Yes. You should disconnect the genset charger (it's only a couple fo amps
in any case). Otherwise your statpower will stop charging when it senses
the additional power source.

I have a statpower 40 that I installed a few months ago. There seems to be
absolutely no conflicts with anything. It works very well for me. The only
thing that may be considered a negative is when I have the fridge on 12 volts
(I have a switch now to switch between 12 volts and 120 VAC) the fan on the
statpower runs. The fan is pretty loud, even though it is enclosed in the
converter
compartment.
