Has anybody had the experience w/the Statpower 40 where the fan runs
during high ambient temp even though the unit is not actually
charging?

I think Richard found that the refrigerator he had was drawing 6 amps at
12 volts and causing the Statpower/and or fan to turn on. Are you sure
it is not that, when you say it is not charging? I think someone else
called customer care with another similar symptom to yours, although they
may have said it runs all the time, and the company replaced the unit
without further discussion. The replacement didn't run all the time.

FWIW:

My StatPower 40 fan does run if the temperature in the electric
compartment gets warm, whether it's charging or just maintaining.
(This appears to have stopped after adding Window Tint/Film to most of
the windows)
