Start Battery has Spacer Plates! ...options?

My engine start battery in my 75 Avion is dead and this will be my 1st time changing it. I found that it has both on the top, and the bottom a
plastic spacer to allow it to fill the same height as the front house battery so that the battery mount top strap sits level over both batteries.

The one I pulled out is labeled 34/78. I see from this chart: http://www.batteryweb.com/bci.cfm that it is 7.9" tall. Also see that various
batteries in the group 24 and 25 range have the same footprint but are taller, negating the need for the plastic spacer(s). I know this a very noob
question, but thought I'd post none the less.

Is there any reason to stick with the 34/78 with spacers? Would a taller battery be preferred? How many CCA's are considered optimal?I am in CA and
expect to rarely be in low temperature environments. It occurs to me that since there is the 'House' battery there with it's boost switch that the
lowest (smallest) adequate CCA battery would be fine? Note I only need the top mount terminals.

I have only O'riley and NAPA locally.

Get the largest CCA battery that will fit, Either with or without the spacers. As this is the engine start battery the more CCAs the better.

I use a 34/78 in my 1999 GMC 2500 pickup truck. Truck came with side terminal battery, but with my ham equipment, I used the top terminals for my radio gear. Very handy if you have ANY accessories you want to have powered at all times.

I just put in a single Group 55 battery to replace the two dead start batteries that came with the coach.

A Group 78 is what you want for a 77. The premuim versions are usually around 900 CCA. This is side terminal only for a stock coach that has not been
