I did not use stands to support my rig while pulling apart the bogies. I
agree that they are sometimes unstable. I used cement blocks that are
used to make circular freestanding bar-b-ques. They are solid cement,
and are about 7 1/2 inches high. I used two on each side. One ahead and
one behind the bogies. I added a few 1x6 fence board scraps to keep the
frame level and free from twists. Rock solid. Only about $12 for four.
