I have seen several posts here lately on the Sprint
PCS (Digital Cell Service) and getting email on the
road via Cell Phone. Something I have been doing
successfully for several months. I also noticed that
it appeared Sprint was offering better deals than my
original deal.
I went to my Sprint Store yesterday and....
You can now get the same 500 min / $50 with free Long
Distance - and for $10/mo addl use any or all of those
minutes for Data Calls. This eliminates the 0.39/min
surcharge for Data Minutes. I had been using $20 - $40
each month for Data Access.
They are also offering 1000 minutes for $75. Limited
Time.
I signed up for:
1000 minutes ............... $75/mo
Include Data Minutes ....... $10/mo
2 Phones sharing minutes ... $20/mo
===================================
Total ..................... $105/mo
I now have 2 phones, 2 phone numbers, can use both
phones at the same time, both phones share from the
same minute pool, I can connect my "Data Cable /
Notebook PC" to either phone, and the 1000 minutes can
be used for voice, fax, data, internet, email with no
additional charges. Works out to 10.5 Cents/Min for
voice OR data.
I can also get the internet directly on my phone's 1"
screen - still not sure how useful that is???
Everything simply works off of the 1000 minutes.
With one phone the cost would have been $85/mo for
a cost of 8.5 cents per minute (with LD) as long as
you are in a PCS zone.

I (or should I say Barb) decided to get 2 new phones!
She said they were cute ($450 worth of cute). So if
anyone is planning to sign up - save some serious
bucks - I have my old phone which is Data ready.
Phone, charger, Lith-Ion battery, data cable and
software for $75. Not "cute" but works great!
I paid $270:
Qualcom Dual Mode Phone QCP-2700 .... $150
Data Cable (connects to PC) ......... $100
Charger ............................. Incl
PC / Data Sprint Software ........... Incl
Carry case (w/ belt clip) ........... $ 20
Everything works fine.....
