Rick,

Thanks for sharing your circumnavigation of Colorado. It reminded me of
my last trip to the Golden State, although that was in a vehicle much
smaller than a GMC. I will never forget the vistas witnessed between
Durango and Ouray on the "Million Dollar Highway". I wasn't nervous
until I came upon the memorial for the fallen snowplow drivers! Further
north, I took a picture of Medicine Bow Pass in June with about 12 feet
of snowbank dwarfing our car. Wonderful trip!

After that, the last climb up to the tunnel (around 11,000') under
clearing skies, low range, flat out for about 5 miles, seems easy, as
does the long downgrade >>> clip
Rick, Great story. I pulled a trailer around that route in the
opposite direction when living in Colo Spg with a Jimmy + 24 ft. My
most unforgetable part was floorboarded, low gear and 35 mph 'bout half
way thru Eisenhower Tunnel on Labor Day weekend (hot) vapor lock
occurred. The tow truck took about 5 min to get there and tow me
through (complete with red face). Only high light was a few late model
cars were also towed to the same parking area. They were well prepared
for vapor locks. (perhaps the MTBE) Bought electric fuel pump after
that.

BTW, do you have stock final drive on your GMC?

Thanks,
Bill
