Some transmission thoughts...

Having had owned several motorhomes, including a 38' diesel pusher
(design was great, but the assembly quality was slightly below
garbage...), I have been following the discussion of transmission life -
like all of the threads in the list!

In my experiences, the maxim for long transmission life is heat - more
accurately, dissipation of it. If you have any concerns about having
enough transmission cooler to do the job that you require, at least
check it out. Better still, upgrade to the largest cooler that fits,
and make sure that it's one that regulates temperature - you sure don't
want it to get too hot, but too cold isn't good either.

Also, I have always been a firm proponent of frequent oil changes
(3000-5000 miles), and every other year, I have ALL fluids changed,
including the differential, radiator, and transmission.

I've never had a transmission failure in any of the coaches we've had -
other problems, but knock on wood.... ;-)
