Sirum's customized center caps

Wayne I just installed these on the front
of mine. Removed the outer bearing cap
but the inner cap remains. Since many
vehicles only have the one cap it didn't
cause me any concern.

GMC logo machined in.

I certainly like the fit and finish and if I had
to choose again I would go the same way.

The only thing I might do different is that the next
time I have the wheels off I might silicone the
center caps m in so that they do not drop off
during wheel changes.

Just a heads up....

I had them on the front and found that eventually they worked themselves
out. I bought them a long time ago from Clasco so current series may have a
thinner lip so that they catch better unter the lip of the Alcoa nut. NOTE:
ALCOAS.

It takes a few thousand miles.

First phase is clicking noise at low speed. This one is a toughie to
diagnose the first time around.
Second phase is when they fall out ;-)

I went back to the Alcoa centers.

I never did put them on the rears as it would mean removing the grease
covers on mine.

They do look GREAT but practicality won out.

I put a set on when I got my Alcoas--love 'em. Mine fit quite snug into the
center hole--seals real good, no concern at all about nasty stuff getting
into bearings. And they really look good. Excellent quality, too.

caps. Incidently I found water had been
sitting between the two caps on one of my
rear wheels. Which wheels do you have

a digit.

I have only installed Alcoas to the
front so far and you are correct it is
the rear only that has the dual caps
covering the bearings.

Problem? I don't know. I only have
a couple of hundred miles since
installing the Alcoas, but it made
me wonder.

Checked the manual. On the front
the outer cap only covered the
hub nut and splined connection
between the axle and the hub.
Unlike the rear wheel bearings
the front wheel bearing has an
outer grease seal futher inside
the assembly.

Which leads to the question. If the outer
cap does not protect the wheel bearings
then how important is covering of the hub
nut and the splined connection between
the axle and hub?

I expect that the wheel cover provides
enough protection.
