Silly question

OK, I haven't shown my ignorance lately... I'm trying to order my Alcoa
wheels today, and after reassuring the salesguy for the fifth time that
I want six "front" wheels and no "rear" wheels he asks, "What size
lugs?" To which I brilliantly reply, "Huh?" "9/16 or 5/8?" he
responds.

So I come home and put a caliper to the studs and it reads .56in.
Unless I'm wrong, that's 9/16 - right?

Thanks!

Thanks Arch. I'm insisting on Alcoa Part No. 160231(which I understand
is a "front" wheel) for the wheels. My question was about the lug stud
diameter. Nobody has yet confirmed that the GMC indeed has 9/16 inch
diameter studs.

I just went outside and pulled off one of the covers on my lug nuts. 9/16
is stamped on the nut as well as 140 ft lb. Without measuring with the
calipers I would say they fit 9/16 inch diameter studs. Hope this helps. I
also would like to see how the wide wheels work out. I don't know if I
would make the change because the "rutting" that I have experienced so far
has not been a problem for me.

Thanks Russ! I'm gonna' put some miles on the regular Alcoa's before I
decide on the wide wheels also. I've never noticed much "wandering"
with the Generals mounted on the old steel wheels. It would track a
groove in the pavement, but not much more so than my Ranger pickup.

OTOH, my father's Eleganza(Generals on 16.5 wheels) tends to "wander"
quite a bit and is very tiring(IMO) to drive. But he's put more than
30k miles on it and doesn't seem to mind. Go figure.
