I've been trying to figure out how to remove the passenger side panel under
the window. I haven't found any screws so asssume it must be snaps. Have
applied all the pressure that I dare on that old plastic. Are the snaps
metal or plastic or do they need to move sideways? Can somebody explain
the trick to me?

Things are wet in there so I need to get access to see what the problem is.

Thanks

Dick

If you are referring to the panel in the cockpit, take care. There are 1 or 2
screws that are on the trailing edge of the panel, under where the wall panel
is tucked into a groove in the same location. Depending on what modifications
have been made, there may or may not be screws into the floor on the lower
flange. If carpeted, it may be stapled right through this same flange. Directly
below the window in, what you could call, the track there is at least one screw
close to where the panel meets the main dash. There may be one or two more in
this same track. OK, that's all the easy part. At the thickest part of this
panel, about halfway to the floor, at about the same level as the bottom of the
map pocket, there is a screw which goes through the main dash and through the
side panel into a spring nut. The only way to safely remove this screw without
breaking anything, is to remove the glove box and gain access to this hidden
location. This one is a major pain. Good luck.

Thanks Darren.

That will save me some headaches when I get back to that area.

I've apparently had a leak here for some time that I didn't know about.
The bottom of the ashtray is rusted out and it's wet inside but there's no
visible signs otherwise. A blast from the garden hose shows a leak right in
the front lower corner of the upper glass.

Dick; I have the same leak (my only one). Water trickles down the front
edge of the sliding window and into the ash tray, but only while parked in
the rain. No leak when driving in the rain.

When/if you figure out how to stop that particular leak, please share.
