Hi All,

My shower drain trap was broken, letting waste tank fumes in the coach. Was
looking for the 1&1/4" ABS drain trap and elbow but unable to locate that
size here. Only can find 1&1/2" ABS/PVC. Due to the tight confines of the
space the 1&1/2 will not fit with out enlarging floor hole, whish is hard to
do with tank/module in place. Does anyone know where one can pickup a 1&1/4
trap & elbow? Just thought I'd ask before taking one this project. Thanks
for any info.

Same thing happened to me a few months ago on my 23'
Glacier.

Here's what I did:

(You already know about removing the panel to gain
access to the drain plumbing).

Carefully measure what can and can't fit together before
cement anything together.

I was able to get a "shoe" fitting rather than try to squeeze
another P-trap into that space. The shoe takes the
shower drain strainer and outlets in a 1-1/2" female.(1-
1/4" fittings are almost impossible to find although Walt's
RV in Fontana CA has a few.) I cut a short piece of 1-1/2"
ABS pipe and cemented it into the shoe. I cut the 1-1/4"
holding tank inlet pipe and slipped a rubber 1-1/2" to 1-
1/4" adapter with screw type band clamps onto the ABS
stub coming out of the shoe fitting, and then onto the
holding tank pipe. Tightened clamps (I put a little silicone
lubricant used on electronic components on the inner
surface of the adapter) and all was well, except the angles
were a little off. I actually had to add a coupling and a 45-
degree elbow and move things around a bit to make it all
come out right.

Totally stopped the leak, but I did have to give up the P-
trap. I just wound up putting the plug in the drain if it gets
malodorous.

I gave up trying to work in a 2-1/2" space upside down
with one eye and a mirror trying to get a 1-1/2" P-trap in
there.

You may not like my solution for long term use, but until
you find 1-1/4" fittings, at least your leak will be stopped
and you can still use the shower.

HTH.

Thanks Toby,

Yeah I had 1&1/2 to 1&1/4" reducers at both ends with the 1&1/2 trap and
elbow and no way, But maybe if reducer @ shower end is about 1/2"+ longer
and I might be able to squeeze in but might be seating on top of tank?, But
then I have to make the hole bigger. Was hoping someone knew of a stash of
these somewhere, You know there's some out there, But then it wouldn't be a
stash huh. Also was thinking of trying 1&1/4/or1/2" flex type hose for a
trap and tie-in, But for now I just capped off, We haven't used yet, So
guess we saved us a wet spot. I was checking for odors, And all else looked
real good after I removed old mice nest sure hate to remove anything else
just for the trap.

Thanks again

Ron

Mine was broken as well, I fixed it last summer. I was
able to get 1 1/4 glue trap and elbow at Home depot or
the local plumbing supply house, I forget which. It is
very tight and the only way I was able to do it was to
cut the pipe where it heads back toward the bed room
and glue all new stuff on. difficult but well worth
it. I get no smellies now. I also found that the pipe
running down from the toilet to the tank was split
right where it went into the waste tank. This caused
it to leak when full and smell all the time.

Hi Alan,

Yeah was hoping to do the same, But can find no fitting in 1&1/4" here,
Atleast they say, I can't even order it. I did cut the elbow towards tk. And
was going to use slip-on type reducer fittings to 1&1/2 but need some mods,
Which is alittle trying in such a tight space. Thanks for info
