EMFBI, but I have a can of something called Nevr-Dull the original magic wadding
polish... The whole thing is kind of Retro... the can, the printing, thestuff
itself (looks like natural, just picked cotton, with some of the seeds left in)
even the smell. It claims to be non toxic but there is some kind of a solvent
smell. What's in it?? It appears to be a secret. They don't have to tell us
because we're not supposed to eat it. Says it shines any metal. Don't use
on lacquered surfaces.... my can has a $4.75 craft shop tag on it. I tried it
on brass and tin and comparison tested it with Brasso. I liked it better than
Brasso.

PMFJI - I found a similar product at the local NAPA, made by Eagle 1, IIRC.

Same thing the air force uses to clean its planes.

Same thing us jar-heads used to polish our brass belt buckles...

I can tell you that I have used the wadding on my Alcoa wheels a few times.
It does a fairly good job if you don't wait for to long of an interval in
between applications. However, if there is the slightest amount of surface
corrosion, you'll need something different to touch it.

At Oshkosh this summer, there were probably a dozen businesses selling
aluminum cleaners and polishes. At one I decided to talk to, I asked the
guy what was different about his. He responded that he was a soap chemist
and that his cleaners/polishes were soap based. Claimed many of the others
have a fine grit in them that leave very fine scratches during the polishing
process. He proceeded to pour some in the palm of his hand and had me dip
my fingers ad rub them together. Sure enough, no grittyness.

I bought a small bottle of polish and have used it on my Alcoa wheels twice.
A little goes a long way and does a nice job.

Haven't tried the cleaner yet.
