If I were you I'd pull the rod from the top edge of your windshield which should provide enough room to set a bead of silicone along the top edge between the body and rubber seal. If you're lucky you won't disturb the urethane bed that the glass is in. Get the right silicone.

I did my own windshield install after watching the video.
I don't think mine ever had any silicone used.
I used this type of sealer.....I had used it before on other projects.....seals really well, cleans up fairly easy with mineral spirits and the good part is it never hardens so it can flex and reseal to some extent.
