Terry,

I think you've opened up a real can of worms here. I've thought the
same thing. Actually, I thought it would be more interesting to use an
Olds Diesel engine instead since it's a direct interchange for the 403.
I've had several and I know how to build them so they stay together. If
you'd like, I could elaborate on that point. ;- )

The 6.2 and the 6.5 diesel engines have the Chevrolet style bell
housing. All other GM division's engines use a different pattern.
Adapters that mate the two together are readily available from the after
market. As for the mounts, I know some guys have put Chevy Vortec
engines in their coaches, so the R&D work has already been done for that
part of the conversion.

Talk about the feasibility of installing a diesel in the GMC at the
GMCMI Rally seminar's I've attended, has always been that it is too
heavy for the fragile front suspension.

Allegedly, someone tried one a long time back.
