Royale Bathroom stuff

So the time has come to fix the damage in the bathroom, broken shower and sink faucet, broken sink drain and p'trap, shower drain needs replacing,
sink is cracked, and finally the toilet flap is like melted away.

I'm having trouble figuring out which toilet to use, as the low profiles are 14-15" tall and it's on a 8" base making it 22-23" tall and the old
toilet was 10" tall

Toilet - Dometic low profile - the issue is that it's 15" tall so would I need to buy the base plate ? and possibly lower the platform ?
Sink - Heng's SSOV-1013-22 Stainless Steel Oval Sink

still need researching the faucets and drains.

What floor plan do you have David?
Sink, faucets & plumbing should be no problem.  We have a 78 Royale Center Kitchen layout with the bathroom and separate shower stall across from the kitchen.  Our toilet is moumted at floor level.

While you don't say, I presume you've got a rear-bath Royale. If so, it's
the same configuration as my X-Birchaven, so I can address the toilet
issue: The platform on which the toilet rests cannot reasonably be lowered
because it's included to clear the rear frame kick-up. That leaves you
with choosing a toilet to be mounted on it. In our case, with me 6'2" and
SHE about 5'10" can tolerate pretty tall seating heights.

That's a good thing, because when we went looking for the new toilet, she
insisted, despite seeing them displayed on a gondola with a height similar
to the GMC, that she wanted the high profile versio n rather than the low
profile. I've been very comfortable with that choice for over 18 years
now. But SHE often takes along the 5" tall stool I built over 20 years ago
for the grandkids. DON'T install the tall version.

But DO get an all-porcelain toilet with a ball valve as opposed to a
sliding valve -- they're much more reliable and trouble-free. I do enjoy
the hand spray which came with our Dometic (of a model no longer offered).

As for your other questions, I can't be of much help. I replaced the tub
and lavatory with the modern equivalents of what Coachmen installed in
'76. For the shower ceiling and walls (including a removable panel over
part of the rear window) I used the FRP available from Lowes, etc. That
has performed perfectly for all these years, without even any cracking
along the 90* corner seam beween the sidewall and the bulkhead. For the
tub, I did include a plywood platform beneath it to eliminate flexing of
the fiberglass.

Hey ken, yeah the model I was considering is

I know the base is plastic but the bowl isn't, it puts it at roughly 23" in height.

Also I was considering replacing the tub as it's showing it's age and would be a different color then the white I want, please let me know what tub
you used and any useful information.

If your Royale is a "Dry Bath" configuration, measure from the floor to the bottom of the cupboard doors. Make sure that the toilet you buy does is
not taller than that measurement or you will not be able to open those doors. Don't ask how I know this...;) See this:

Also, when you put your new drain plumbing in, use an elbow under the sink to direct the waste to the back wall and put the trap up against the back
wall. That will give you more usable space under the sink with out that trap in the way. See this:

I used the Dometic low profile for my rear bathe Royale. It is a bit tall when mounted on the existing platform. I'm 6 foot 7 o it works out pretty
good for me but a little high for the boss (wife).

Thanks Larry for the heads up, but that looks like you have a side dry bath, mine is a rear dry bath :)

still looking for the tub replacement options
the walls will probably redone in FRP
and also if i want to remove the cabinets to get the carpet out or leave it under, while i plan on doing a hardwood floor in there

but on the toilet i ripped out the platform too see what is underneath, and the platform can easily be rebuilt a 3-4 inches lower to make it only a
inch or so higher then the original setup, and called and measured to see if that back step would interfere with the installation but it will have
about 1" clearance
I'm going to remove the platform completely and use a floor mounted toilet, and move the waste vent line further back or though the sink vanity and
just make a cover over that, I still have to get the parts which hopefully i'll be able to afford in the coming weeks, but i'll keep updating.

It's decided i will replace the tub, as i found it's cracked :(
I want one that has a full front to it, but everything i'm seeing looks like a drop in type.

I found the black tank sewer vent is loose as well probably leaking into the coach 8o
I'll have to drop the black tank to check out the connections on the top

I'm not sure you'll find a tub with a full front. But adding a front of
your choice (FRP in my case) is simple and it gives you access to the
underside plumbing -- which is the biggest installation problem.

At 40+ years old, an Applied GMC replacement black tank is probably in
order.

Unless the tank is leaking at the joint where the vent is connected, a good
vent cap on the roof will not allow water to drip down the sides, just
through the inside of the pipe, if at all.

I missed you today but i'll get a hold of you (Jim) tomorrow for new tank

Yeah i meant the connection of the vent pipe to the tank was loose, and now that i have it out i can see that it is damaged, in two areas, not sure
this is even the original tank.

and i have this huge heavy bracket bolted to the frame (holding up the pipes not the tank) the holes for it were cut out in the frame with a torch and
a part of the frame cut out as well is this oem ?
