Roof top air conditioners

I’m curious what the consensus is about the best roof top air conditioners out there?
I have a single 13.5K in the center position that’s 7-8 years old and has never really kept up on hot days.
My thought is to move that one to the rear position and get a 15K for the center.
Looking for brand and model suggestions to look for or to avoid.

I never realized you just had one 13k BTU. no wonder it did not keep up.....

your plan is correct, install a 15.5 up front and move that 13k to the rear.

there are a couple factors in choice, 1st is of course if you are stuck on low profile or not, Probably not, because low profile costs more.

2nd- is heat pump or not. you have a nice furnace, so heatpump is not necessary, but I really like my heat pump on mine. It is what I use to
keep the coach warm as long as outside temps are 40 degrees or above. then I go to the furnace once it drops below 40 outside.

Problem is, RV air conditioners seem to change quickly as availability, who owns who and models.

only thing I know- Stay away from the Dometic Brisk Air, you can ask Billy massy, and Tim Anderson and myself. We have those in our Fiber
trailers, and they are poor.

Hi Rick,
If your sleeping quarters are in the rear area, I would look for the quietest AC unit I could find for the rear. For a low profile unit I think the
Dometic penguin is quieter than the Coleman Mach. I put a 15k Coleman mach unit in the rear spot and it is way overkill. I would think even a 9k unit
would be sufficient.
The hardest part is finding the various AC units to listen to.

I really liked the Atwood Air Command, but Atwood was bought out by Domestic and they discontinued it....

However the Houghton RecPro looks very similar. Same specs, general appearance, also made in Australia....
