Would a price of $600.00 scare the heck out of anybody as a cost for a
replacement ALUMINUM roof pod? Complete with lifts, locks and latches.
All aluminum.
Sizes as requested: 36 x 36 x 15 to 72 x 36 x 18
Prices difference is very small as only the difference
in the amount of material would make up the
difference in price. The pod would have rounded corners
and be hinged and have hydraulic rams as an assist.

I know. But if I can't use you guys as a sounding board who would I ask?

Possible. That is why I am asking. I need some design consensus. How about a
pod that has the same appearance as the AC cover. Sloped in the front and
square in the rear. More aerodynamic. Darren

Short top. Smooth sides. Big enough for 2 sets of golf clubs. Positive opening
and hold open. Positive latches. Curved leading edge.
Optimum height?
Width?
Square or rounded bottom?
Contoured to fit roof line? Cost on this one.
How about something which sits mid line on the roof that runs from the rear of
the front AC to the front of the rear AC? Same width and height as the AC.
Custom to fit to match your AC's of course.
Sounds like closer to a storage locker than a roof pod.
Keep the ideas coming. I will be taking orders after all this. Darren

career with a large urban fire dept. WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS. They really do work.

Darren - you might consider using a design that mimics the shape of the GMC
- - i.e. the front could be the same angle as the windshields, the top could
be curved from side to side, all the radii could be proportional to the
corresponding radii on the GMC, etc.

Attachment --- Dead ended aluminum nutserts. No leaks. Easy to install.
Removable pod.

The big question remains. Would it be viable? Do you think you would pay that
much for a roof pod? This design would more than likely come in over $700.00.
Guessing at this point that is probably a conservative estimate. Of course final
design will determine price. The thing to remember here is I can make them almost
any shape you want. If you all agree on the same shape and size the price goes
down. You all know how that works. 1 pattern and all. I like all the ideas. Lets
get this figured out so I can get to work on one. We need a name too. "piggy

Darren,
I and my Grand Children are skiers. We run out of room in the standard pod
when we carry boots and bibs and poles. We need at least as much volume as
our current plastic pod. I would like it to be long enough to put my skis
inside. I attach a ski rack to the current pod and I guess that can still
be an option depending on design. Great job. I'm sure you'll come up with
an optimal design.

This one, I think, would be a custom job. Unless skis fit between the AC's.

I've been married to the same woman for 43 years and I'm almost as loyal to
my GMC. I know when I've got the best so I don't want an Avion truck or
trailer. However, does anyone have a picture of that ski storage area?

Now Bob, if you had an Avion instead of a Palm Beach you would have had a
ski storage area than ran crosswise just in front of the entry door!

My old friends (back in the 70s had one and I thought that was really
neat!

ski storage area than ran crosswise just in front of the entry door!

That GMC Motorhome finished by Avion is one of the better interiors I've
seen. I like it better than the Royale's. Look at this:

I agree. I am in my 45th year with my gal, but I was referring to an
Avion GMC!
