Roof A/C Units

Thought I would mention that I'm told that the low profile subject units
have a higher failure rate vs. original type. The reason supposedly is
because the former compressors are laying on their side vs. standing up.

Actually the Dometic/Duo-Therm units have an excellent track record.
Looks nicer up on the roof too. Darren

Paul,

I have used the low profile pinguine units for several years and know of no
increased failure in them. I would like to hear of any bad experiances.

I put one on Tom's coach and am getting ready to put another one on another
coach very soon.

I got rid of two original Duo Therms and replaced them with one Duo Therm
Penguin II which is waht I think you are all referring to as "low
profie". It works well altho sometimes when the interior temp approaches
the setting on the thermostat it seems uncertain whether to shut dow,
slow down or keep on running.

In any event I like it. The other Duo Therm (rear) was replaced with a
Fantastic Fan; in case anyone was wondering!
