Rob,

What may be confusing is how little power you can extract from a lead acid battery for doing anything but starting your GMC. It is a very inefficient way to power any 120vac device no matter how efficient or inefficient the inverter. And lead acid batteries take a long time to recharge no matter the capacity of the charger.

You can downloads presentation I did ten years ago called “Living large in your GMC” to see the best you can achieve with lead acid batteries and, after the new presentation is given at GMCWS in Oct, you will be able to download that one to see how very far we have come in just ten years.

The losses incurred for creating AC from a DC source is why I've always
aimed towards running most of the coach on DC. There are also lots of
parasitic draws in most RV's - I've come across SOB owners that have a hard
time going more than a few days when dry camping.

We've gone more than a week in the past - so I've got no complaints!
