I found this item on the internet a few years ago and redid our dining table.
You don't have to strip, just apply two or three coats and it enhances the wood.

There are a number of products for this. I've had excellent results with Restor-a-finish. Sure beats all the work of removing the old finish. Not to mention the amount of time saved. On my 76 Royale the walnut cabinet faces were too far gone for a wipe on wipe off restoration. Instead I sand blasted with some very fine sand. It had been through the blaster several times and had the consistency of flour. Perfect for removing old finish from crevices, corners etc without damaging the wood. Much better and faster than sanding. From there it was easy to apply fresh urethane.

The cabinet boxes were a disaster and built with something like laminated masonite. so I built new cherry veneered plywood boxes and attached the refinished faces.
