Replacing the AC compressor

Our Sanden unit allows one to use the original hose manifold now.
Keep in mind that the original hose is over 40 years old and the new freon
gas tends to leak through the older style hose.
I believe our kit includes the new hose material.

I must have been the first to buy the aluminum A/C compressor from Jim K because I had to weld up custom brackets for the installation. That said, it
was an absolute pleasure to install having wrestled that heavy A6 in and out for years. I have been using the new compressor for years now and it
works great with duracool.

The worse A6 experience I had was reinstalling a rebuilt unit at night using a trouble light and hoisting it up into position from the wheel well
alone.
Just after I got it all bolted up and was going to install the gas manifold on the rear, out the corner of my eye I thought I saw a moth crawl into
one of the two holes on the back of the compressor. I kept telling my self that NO I had to be delusional, but I decided to pull the whole compressor
out again and take it back to the rebuilder. Sure enough, when the back plate of the compressor was removed, there was a moth floating in the mineral
oil. It had been attracted by the trouble light at night. I was glad it didn't block my expansion valve if I had ignored what I thought I saw, but I
sure didn't appreciate having to remount that monster compressor a second time.

I think I added about 30 additional pounds of load carrying capacity to the GMC from the lighter compressor.
