Hi Paul,
Re item #3, it seems the filter can has an indentation on it for the HEI
unit. Maybe someone can tell you if the filter mount dimensions are the
same on early and late models then you just need to find an air filter
that will accommodate the HEI unit.
If they are the same, I know Alex Sirum GMC inFlorida has some or you may
find one closer to home.
