Refrigerator Problem

GMCers,

Help! My refrigerator ( Dometic RM2607 Propane/110V ) quit working in the
propane mode. The burner is clean and positioned properly, the flame looks
good, I pulled out the fridge to look at the flue and baffle, no
restrictions there. The only thing that seems unusual to me is that the
burner cycles on/off a lot - it's on for about 2 minutes, then off for 20
seconds or so - the insulated "stovepipe" in the back gets hot, but there is
no cooling at all. Works great on 110.
I don't know what else to check!
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Peter - I would suspect either the flame sensor that allows the
propane valve to open to let propane flow to the burner or else it
could be a partially clogged orifice at the burner end of the propane
pipe. Does your unit have an electronic ignition or a pilot light?
i am guessing that even though you have a flame you are just not
getting enough heat from the flame or the flame is not staying on
long enough. The fact that you say it works fine on 110v. would seem
to confirm this.

I haven't had any problems with my GMC refrig but on a SOB that I
used to own, every time that I took it out of storage I had to clean
out the burner pipe and orifice because little spiders always built a
nest in them. Apparently the odor detector product put into propane
is like a magnet for spiders. I finally solved that problem by
spraying Raid profusely around that area when I would put the
motorhome into storage.

Emery, Justin,

Thank you for your suggestions regarding my "Dometic" questions.
The crazy thing is that now the problem seems to be intermittent. The burner
has been on for a few hours now, and the fridge is getting cold. I talked to
Dometic this morning, they said it could be a circuit board, but of course
it's hard to diagnose over the phone.

I'll check the burner and orifice in the morning (Spiders! I'll have Jodie
check it, she LOVES them!)

I'll have the pressure regulator checked, probably a good idea anyway!

Good thing we have reservations at the "Full Hookups" campground at Lake
Powell for the weekend!
