I bought mine through a dealer and still had to do some of my own work (as
Scott can tell you). Still, you point is well taken.

In case anybody needs an eyebrow board or 2 way control board drop me a
line, I have them left over from my expensive debacle. (the dealer wouldn't
accept the parts back even though they were never installed).

Arch:

I purchased a Norcold refrigerator from Camping World to replace my original
unit and installed it myself. They come with a 3 year factory warranty that
can be upgraded to 5 years if you want.

A few months later I had trouble and contacted a local RV dealer to find out
if they did Norcold warranty work. Took it there and they had to replace
the whole cooler section on the rear, under warranty. They did the work
very happily and at no cost to me. All they asked me for was the paperwork
for the original purchase so they could document that it was still under
warranty.

Normally you hear the argument you make about warranty work when dealing
with cars. Who's going to do the service? I found that to be a myth back
in the early 60's after I purchased a new car and subsequently moved out of
state. Never had any problem with warranty work nor was I ever asked why I
didn't take it to the origianl dealer.

Bottom line is I never worry about warranty work because I've never had a
problem having it done whenever needed.

You are right you will save $200 dollars----now. Who is going to do the
warrantee work for you? Sure any dealer will do it for you----but does
he
care if it is right or not? Second can you get an extended warrantee

I dont know but I am not sure cheap is the way to go here unless you
understand these beasts.

The only problem I ran into was the factory approved warranty service
centers are sometimes pretty far apart. My closest one is in San Jose and
they put warranty work behind everything else that comes in. So, you can
sit there all day even if you are the first one in the door and still not
have it looked at by the time they close. That's why I bought parts to do
the work myself - they didn't have any way to test a board if I took it out
and gave it to them!

BTW, if you do buy a 3-way board, open the box before you leave. I bought a
3-way and got home only to find out it was mislabeld and is a 2-way. NO
RETURNS ON PARTS!

Arch how many times does anything break down in the area where you bought
