Tom Warner sends a better answer, but since I had this already
typed.....you're gonna get it anyway
I had 108,000 on my 403 when I started last year. (Also a ' 77)
I averaged just over 9mpg on 18,000+ miles. What to do? Change
plugs to Bosch Platinum, put a kit in the carb ( did it myself, and
I've got the IQ of a carrot), exhaust: 2 1/4 up to 2 1/2 and into
Walker cheapos but have a fancy name, out 2 1/2 up to 3" Y and
back 3"to tail, most importantly....get your foot off that pedal
And that's my story.
