Some people have changed to 1 1/16" or 1 1/8" wheel cylinders on the
intermediate wheels. I know of no one that has put anything larger on the
rear wheels. That doesn't mean they haven't. I don't think it's necessary
though. Even with the stock 15/16" wheel cylinders the rear wheels will
sometimes slide on wet pavement or loose gravel with a good working vacuum
booster let alone something like Powermaster. Anyone tried larger than stock
cylinders on the rear-most wheels?

Al I talked to Ed Daniels just the other day about the powermaster and he
recommended to me that I change to 1 1/8" on the intermediates and 1 1/16"
on the rears. If that is not right I need to know. I am getting ready to do it.

Tom,

I've taken a few days to respond to your question on whether to
change the rear-most wheel cylinders from 15/16" to larger. I believe 15/16"
is adequate, but I wanted to get other options and reread a couple of
articles that have been printed in the last few years. The consensus remains
stay with 15/16" on the rear. This is to minimise locking of the rear wheels
and keeping the demands on the master cylinder as low as reasonably
possible. 1 1/16 or 1 1/8" is suggested for the intermediate wheel
cylinders.

As you know, Tom, we have exchanged info on this over the weekend. I
would like to ask again, as in GMC Digest #207, does anyone else have
anything new to add or comments or an experience on the size of wheel
cylinders on the four rear wheels. The above info is at least five years old
and maybe older. My GMC time has only been seven years.

Thanks Al for all the help, and you know that I respect your opinion.
Unless there is some other strong opinion to the contrary I will stick with
the 15/16" on the rear and 1 1/8 on the intermediates. Thanks
