Rear Storage Pod & Tire Sizes

Since buying our '76 Royale last November, I've seen several references to
"trunks", or rear storage pods. I'd really like to have some outside
storage, but a roof pod is out because of my disability. I have the service
manuals and bulletins, but haven't found any "official" information (size,
spare location or bumper extension). Can anyone point me to some original
data?

Also, does anyone have any experience running with 8.75's in the front and
9.50's on the rears? The 8.75's are load range E, so weight limits
shouldn't be an issue, but is there some other issue I should be aware of?

Some day maybe I'll gain enough experience to be able to answer instead of ask.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

One such individual I'm acquainted with who has constructed fiberglass
trunks is Elam Fayard (epfayard). He is the current
president of GMCMI.

Don't tell him I said so, but if you want to see a far out coach, get
Elam to show you his. It has a very open interior floorplan. For
example, the toilet is motorized and moves out from the footboard of the
bed. The bathroom sink is also motorized and moves out from the
passenger side wall. Elam created storage compartments along both sides
of his coach that are accessed from the exterior. He has created a
multitude of other one-of-a-kind custom devices in their coach.

Those who have attended a GMCMI rally have seen Elam and Sarah's coach
during the open house sessions.

Perhaps OASI in Dayton Beach FL (904-767-99776) is another source for a
trunk. They sell a variety of molded fiberglass parts for the GMC.
