Rear bogie pins

Ok - This is getting me paranoid - where is my Prozac? Somebody must
have hid it on me. There fore I'm not parnoid the GMC is really trying
to get me.

Ok, putting the air bag back together and have the right rear jacked up
to relieve pressure on the air bag while working. The rear tire is just
making contact with the ground and I pull on the center tire to get up
off the ground (I need all the help I can get). Center Tire wobbles
as I pull on it. It moves a good bit in the vertical plane and not much
in the horizontal plane. Does this indicate that I need new pins?

What is the test for needing new pins?

OK, Patrick:

How do I get the pictures and the play is in the top and bottom.
When I grab the top and bottom of the tire and move in and out
there is about 1/2 inch of play. The tire is unloaded with no
air bag pressure or vehicle weight.

How much and how hard and from who?

You guys sure know how to put the pressure on! I'll see if I can get
all the jpegs uploaded to the site today.

The short version is you need to replace the pins and bushings. The old
bushings must be pressed out of the bogies and the new ones will need to
be machined to fit the pins and pressed in. You'll need a local machine
shop for the work if you're not so equipped. Keep a close eye on them
too. The bushings should be a "magnetic" fit on the pins. Arch's
machinist got one slightly oversized. Much cussing ensued and he
finally agreed to pay for replacements.

Hi All,

I was traveling home on I-5 Southbound on March 16th at 12:00 when I
spotted a filthy beat up looking Palm Beach lumbering along at only 55
mph in the slow lane. I immediately noticed how splayed out the bogeys
were. I thought to myself how badly those pins must be worn. I wanted
to stop them so we could talk, but it's not practical to do that out in
the middle of nowhere.

I would have liked to get the TZE number and some info about them
and their coach for David Greenburg.

Just got done viewing the commodore's rear and I had a question. The air
bag appears to have the dreaded hotdogging disease symptoms for this were
shown in a Cinnabar article. Was the airbag reused? Also are there airbags
with something other than the shrapnel plastic cone? Inquiring rearenders
need to know! Arden

Sorry Dave, I didn't know I was permitted to do that. I got a
Corvair owner to pull over once by holding up the shop manual in the
passenger window for him to see. I wished I had something that said GMC
Motorhome on it at the time.
