The message below is from ACME, the makers of the A/C/heater I got out
of the late 80's conversion van. This would serve most installations on
our GMC's and includes the a/c hoses with fittings! I will still need a
shop to do the final install and charging, I guess. I already bought
the heater hose from a truck parts shop for $.48 per foot. The NAPA
shop wanted $1.49, the marine store wanted $1.79. The truck shop hose
was much nicer than the other stuff. Stonger and less crushable.

the only 'replacement' kit available for this vintage vehicle consists
of
the following components:

- 40' of 5/8" heater hose
- 20' of 5/16" (#6) a/c hose
- 20' of 1/2" (#10) a/c hose
- 2 heater 'Y' splicers
- 1 vacuum operated water valve
- 12 worm driven hose clamps
- rear evaporator a/c fittings
- a/c 'T' fitings (to tie into the GM system)
- 12 hose clamps (hang all hoses to the frame rail)

The above kit is priced at $183.37 plus UPS. With an internet order
(order
form off of our web-site) a 10 percent discount is applied (drops price
to
$165.03)

Note: the a/c fittings are now 'beadlock' due to the barrior hose. We
can
crimp these fittings onto the hose if so requested. Please insure the
length of hose required.

I can also sell individual components from that kit if you choose.
Inform
me of which items you need, and will return pricing.

thanks for inquiring - let me know if I can be of assistance to you and
your
customer!

It was a VERY good day at the junk yard. Found a conversion van with rear
air/heat--got the unit, ducts, vents, hoses, wiring, tees, (no
instructions), all for $50. Rear air is a lot closer to reality, now. Also
got some high pressure switches that screw onto the Schrader valve-$1 each.

Any problem switching our systems to accumulator/orifice instead of
expansion valve?

I only know enough about A/C to be dangerous. (Hence the manifold set,
vacuum pump, & 30# tank of R-12.)
