Arch, will you be going to Rayne in March?

How about a show of hands, or whatever. How many plan to go from the
GMCnet?

Rick,
My wife is a elementary school teacher and she does not have that time off
either. However, I am considering going alone to Rayne. I went to
Forest City alone. I had a good time there, and I think my wife was happy
to have me out of the house for a while. But she sure was nice to me when I
got
back :)

So don't let that be an excuse to not go. Life's too short!

I am running at full speed getting ready for my trip to Rayne. Does any
one who is going need anything special while I am in building mode. I am
going to try to have a couple of everything so if there are any special
requests now is the time. I am pretty excited about this trip. The
furthest from home I have ever been and there shouldn't be any snow
there. Also looking forward to meeting a bunch of people down there.

Darren,
You're free to go to Rayne as long as you get my battery tray shipped
to me before you leave ;-) I'm going to need it if I plan on getting to
Rayne myself. I have to check the water in those batteries somehow.

It's starting to look possible that I might have my very on GMC bought soon
and that I'll be working on a job in Austin for a while and living in it.

I haven't paid any attention to the Rayne threads since I had no idea I'd be
thinking of going; now I might. Is there a website with info? I don't even
know when it's going to be.

Thanks,

Travis

Emory, I just want to tell the GMC netters that you became involved in the
Rally proceedings and helping others with their problems when possible. I
was pleased and impressed that they asked you to join the "bull session"
along with the top professionals of our hobby on stage to answer questions
from the audience. And as always, you did a superb job of answering them.
It was certainly my pleasure to meet you and discuss issues....However I
wish
you hadn't brought up the subject of the guy who filled my" tranny" with
Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil instead of trans. fluid and then look out in the
audience and ask if "the gentleman is in the audience." I was not about to
raise my hand after seeing the reaction of the others. By the way; has
anyone ever heard of a mechanic doing this after overhauling the
transmission? If you have, please tell me......
Anyway, you did good and I hope you will make yourself available at future
rallies.

Don,
A mechanic that I have great faith in said it was the thing to do. Mine
works well.
Have I got a Tranny disaster in the works?
Bob McLaughlin

Don,
Thanks for the reply. He's my well respected mechanic and he may know
something
the rest of us don't. I get worried when Emery says don't do it but maybe
it just
hasn't been tested. Some of us are natural born Guinea Pigs.

Bob, I had a mechanic in Castell Texas rebuild my tranny and he says he has
been putting synthetic (Mobil 1) motor oil in them for some time now. I
drove from there to San Francisco and back to AR and then down to South
Padre
Island and then over to Rayne for the convention and back home without any
problems........Don R 76PB

Bob,

I've heard mechanics say that they use mobil 1 in the tranny for break in,
but that it should be replaced with ATF shortly there after!! I personally
thought they were nuts. But who knows???????? If you do keep the Mobil 1
engine oil in, Let us know after afew thousand miles how its going. Maybe
the thicker stuff will help disperse the heat better, then I can get my
tranny temps down.
