Anyone know where I can get a range vent exactly like original? Bought one
at Camping World but was not the same, returned it , Do not wish to drill
new holes. My original is 12 1/8" X 5 1/4", brand is "Ventline" . Did
original have one-way "flapper" to help keep out rain and mud-daubers? Mine
does not. Thanks.

I have a 76 Palm Beach. Vent hood is 24"x9x~5"

I decided to go for a nerw replcement since I have to replace the locker.
The new unit is 12" deep, 20" long and a bit shallower. I have to replace
the outside vent (which does NOT have any kind of a flapper.) Let me know
if you want more information.

Arch,
Thanks for your response. Please let me know how your design works out. I
did some modification as suggested by another GMC netter some time ago.
Dropped the fan and light fixture some four inches with an box around the
unit so I could mount a small microwave oven above. Had to have a duct made
in a "Z" shape to connect blower to outside vent. Works OK but discovered
vent has been leaking all along and provides entry for muddaubbers.

Henry,
Thanks for your answer. Don't know what I will do. If I remove original
The paint will look awful as coach has relatively new paint job, may try to
modify the original some way. Rain worse than bugs.

Henry,

Thanks so much for reference to your webb site. They say a picture is worth
thousands of words (I forgot how many). I have truly enjoyed my visit to
your site and expect to return to it often. I don't know what I will do
about my vent. I had hoped to find an original with a "weather flap".
Don't know if such an animal exists. Hate to remove the original as it
appears to be fastened with rivets. No rain in site so no worry now.
Thanks again.

Justin,
Thanks for your reply. I saw one at Bean Station with duct tape for hinge
but thought it was just something someone had made up. I will see if I can
get to it without removing the vent. Thanks again.

My decsion was made for me. Since I'm replacing the range hood, (and the
old vent doesn't quite fit) I'm also replacing the outside vent fitting.
The new one has a flapper that is held down when traveling by two retainers
that you have to turn before you travel.

I had hoped to find an original with a "weather flap".

Drill it out and rivet a new one one in place. ;> Easier said than done
sometimes.
