Tom,
The flatter side goes towards the coach. Also you should have noticed
that one of the wires was shorter than the other. Longest one goes to
the passenger side (at least how mine came) and depending on how you
route it you may still have to add wire to reach the control switch
depending on where you mount the control switch. I have mine located
next to the drivers seat.
