I have never been to a Rally being a new owner and all. The upcoming event
in Rayne is only a couple of hours away for me. I won't have my coach in a
presentable condition to go to the Rally, but was wondering if there were
any ground rules that would prevent me from participating "coachless". I
know I must really sound like a novice here, but I am, and I am not ashamed
of it. The wealth of information that I have gathered thus far from the net
has been invaluable. I think the Rally would take that to a new level.

What events would most likely benefit a new owner? Is there such a thing as
a "swap meet" time durring the Rally? I would like to see what other owners
have done to their coaches to get some ideas for mine. I would love to pick
up on a few "nice to have" items if there is a designated time for such.

You are going to have sooooo much fun. All of those things you talked
about are going to be there. Take your coach in any condition, there is
so much info and help there it is worth the trip. There is nothing like
being in the middle of 300 GMC coaches.

Chip,
Go to the GMC Motorhome International web site (www.GMCMI.com) and click on
conventions, next convention and all your questions should be answered.
Just give Ralph Luby a call for any added info you need. You'll have a
great time and everyone will welcome you coach or no coach.

Chip,
I too will chime in on the side of go to the convention with or without your
coach. We are newbies to this whole gmc thing. We purchased our rig in
Sept/99 and took it directly to Buskirk-Rush RV in Sandusky, Michigan a week
before the fall convention.
I was in your shoes in that I felt a little "funny" showing up at the rally
without coach. I said to myself-go for it and drove 13 hours one-way to
Iowa. I was only able to stay for 1 day because of my work schedule. It was
well worth the effort. Picked up a lot of very useful information but more
importantly I meet a lot of really genuine nice people who treated as though
I was a long lost friend.
Rayne will be our maiden voyage and we are looking forward to meeting a lot
of the gmc.net folks.
I've been somewhat of a "lurker" on the net given my complete lack of
mechanical skills and knowledge. The net has shown me that there is room for
all of us under the GMC umbrella.
Hope to see you in March.

If your coach is drivable, go ahead and take it. Don't worry. There will be a
lot of coaches there that are "work in progress". Others don't worry about
things like that. Yes, there is a Swap Meet. At the one I went to, there were
a lot of vendors selling a lot of good stuff (get there early). Yes, you can
attend without a coach, but it costs almost as much. Lots of seminars on the
tech stuff. If you're that close and don't go, fire your boss or get a medical
excuse from the doctor.
