Hello all,

Just installed the ragusa final drive cover and while filling, had bath in gear oil. I attached a small clear hose to the top of the quart sized
bottle and squeezed but it was painfully slow and the hose kept falling off. There must be an easier way...

Help?

I did it with a hose from the engine hatch.

The last few years I have used a gear oil pump.

You can get them at:

Walmart:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Attwood-11891D7-Gear-Lube-Pump-For-Use-With-32-Ounce-Gear-Lube-Bottle-Universal-Fit-Includes-1-Yamaha-Adapter/16351021
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lower-Unit-Gear-Oil-Pump/403952594
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Trac-Gear-Lube-Pump/34757632

They are designed to pump a high viscosity oils and will work with regular wt oils too. They come with a lot of fitting that you will not use.

Just how I stopped the mess.

Yes, longer and wider hose from the top should do the trick! Wait...;)

Thanks!

Once I have my oil jug in place I puncture a hole in the jugso the oil
feeds faster.

Hey Shawn. I use a clear plastic hose that is a tight fit in the Ragusa FD cover fill hole. It stays put and you can switch bottles easily, and as
Bruce said poke a hole at the top of the inverted bottle. Bend up a wire coat hanger to hold the bottle in position while it's emptying.

One easy trick that i have used for many years. Most of the gear oil today
comes in flex bottles with a screw on pointed cut to fit snout. I put the
bottles in a pan of very hot water for a few minutes, it pour quite readily
when warmed up. The clear hose is a good idea, you can see when it needs to
burp back.
