If you want to add a Kenwood CD player now or later, get the Kenwood
KRC-3007 vs. the 2007, which has all the player controls built in.

I've heard nary a word of advice from the net on whether a Pioneer radio
would work as well as a Kenwood 2007 for a replacing my original GMC radio,
so kept looking for a place that carried the Kenwood. Finally found
Cartronics in Portland (OR); they told me they have 'em for $99, and no
sales
tax. Sounds good to me. :-)

Not that I'm aware of (you may want to verify with someone like Crutchfield,
800-466-7924). Its one or the other and not both. When you say "they", I
assume you're talking about the mini-disc being recordable??

Paul, do they make one with CD AND Mini-Disc (MD) controls built in, do you
know? I see that as something to watch because they are recordable at less
than half the price of CD recorders.

My mistake, the correct numbers are 2006/3006. If I recall correctly, I
paid about $250.00 on sale for my CD player.

Don't look to best Buy for Kenwood. For reasons unknown to me, that is one
brand they don't sell???

Circuit City does, though.

I just thought you were looking at info on the whole Kenwood line with all
the model numbers you had on the top of your info pile... I know somebody
makes a combination unit incorporating both controls because Best Buy just
advertized one a few weeks ago, and I thought it might be Kenwood.
When I say recordable, I am referring to the 74 minute MD that they sell in
quantities of 5 for $2.00.

I just now replaced my 8 track radio with a Clarion ARX4570 and CD
changer. This does not fit the original opening/ knobs like the Kenwood
Paul mentioned, but the trim ring they installed looks fine. The 6 disc
CD changer was mounted in the compartment under the passenger seat. I
also got a wireless remote so I can control it from the back of the
coach, which is our "living room" when parked. 35 watts per channel help
to brighten even the old speakers. They installed a small toggle on/off
switch to prevent power drain when off. Cost was $450 plus installation
at a local car stereo joint.

However, they had a lot of trouble with the old dashboard and I have to
take it back tommorrow so they can try to restore the dash to its former
old, but decent, condition.

Guess its the old "GMC Theorem"; Every action taken for improvement
results in an equal and opposite reaction.

Now that you have a fancy new radio and CD player, what are you going
to do with all those 8 track tapes you must have?

Actually, that was the whole reason for spending the bucks, couldn't
find the Bare Naked Ladies on 8 track!
