Radiator update

Hi All,
Removed radiator today After flushing yesterday. Removal was fairly easy no
jacking or hose removal of condenser/tranny cooler just tilted both upwards
after removing bottom mounting bolts and loosing top ones, and removed two
top bolts on fan shroud along with four for top cage . Took about
ahour(retired you know) not including soaking time for oil/tranny radiator
fittings, Just up, bottom out, and let it down.(This was the heaviest
radiator I've handled) This was with no help. Not as bad as I first thought.
Took it to Hancock Radiator for Tk. repair and replacement of core $240
total. Thinking of installing water pump from gateway(spare) old one not
leaking but had some traces from weep. Different subject, Is the A/C
compressor a common one? Its working GMC style but has a rattling noise
seems from clutch area but not sure. Might check it after next trip.

Hi Richard, Yea I am going to replace the pump, hoses, thermostat(have to
buy this one,looking for this # also) and the belts since P.O. gave me all
of it and its all in the open, and keep old for spares. Was trying to fine
napa # for 195deg. stat. know its some where guess I'll check Gene's site.
Guess I have to stay with 9# cap? looked for new one but couldn't find a
9, guess a 10 will do? Old one looks good but awfully hard to remove.
Think Wallace guard is going back on for another try. Getting ready to
attack it. 0930 102degs and going up!!!! No shade, No pit, but towel ready
to wipe off Ft. Mohave moisture, YEA!!! wife says I love it!!!!

Ron, REPLACE THE WATER PUMP NOW WHILE YOU HAVE A CLEAR SHOT AT THE SUCKER.
It's much tougher after the rad back in.
