I've been insured with National Alliance (MVP - Camping World) for several
years with no complaints. The GMC costs me $292 per year for $100K/$300K
etc., and $100/$200 deductible, including unlimited towing and labor
reimbursement. I also have our cars on the same policy. I just goy off the
phone with National's underwriting dept. after discussing how to make sure
they would reimburse an appropriate amount in the event of a total. They
don't offer "agreed value", but I was told to send them a package
including; 1) a description and value of all significant upgrades, 2)
pictures of anything that would add to the average value of the coach, and
3) a statement of the coach's probable value. He advised that an appraisal
would be nice, but not critical. The data should be sent certified mail to
the attention of the underwriting department, and, of course, copies
retained in the owner's files.
Here's how it works: The policy covers actual cash value (ACV), less the
deductible. In the event the coach were totaled, the added data (pics,
etc.) would be the basis for determining ACV. In the event of a dispute,
that same data would support a claim for an appropriate settlement. I think
I'll send the data and stick with them for now.
Another factor I considered: RV Alliance quoted $426 with the same limits,
AND they'll only cover the GMC. I'd have to find a new carrier for the
cars, thus losing the "old customer" rate.
I haven't had to use National's towing service, but between theirs and AAA
($16/yr added to our regular membership [I love maps!]), I'm pretty
confident I can get it towed to where ever it needs to go. Of course it may
require that I become a PIA, but that's some thing else I enjoy.
