I wanted to be there by Saturday, but I got sick. Nothing serious, but do not feel like traveling this way. Have a good time.

Is there a rally out there or just people escaping winter?

About a million people descend on Quartzsite each Jan for the huge RV tent
show and RV sale that begins this weekend. Free boondocking on BLM land.

Quartzite! Name sounds kinda gold rush-ery. Brings to mind prospectors with
burros equipped with pack frames with all sorts of picks, shovels, gold
pans, grub, trusty winchesters, etc.
Not what you see when you get there. Circus tents, quad-runners,
clapped out datsun little hustler pickups with water bags hung from the tow
bars, RV's as far as the eye can see, scooter tramps, traffic jams, dust in
places you cannot imagine.
Who wouldn't just love to spend their winter there. And if you don't
like that image, just drive north to the Nevada desert to BURNING MAN.
Whole different scene awaits you there.
Oregon, rain and all, sounds ok to me.

And almost nobody sticks around for the rock and gem show, where Quartzite
got its start. "The Show" has had its ups and downs through the years but
the only thing constant in this world is change.

Billy,

Do you have something going on in Durant, Oklahoma, my home town. Haven't been there in years. Probably a few of the next generation cousins still
there. If they haven't all migrated to Dallas, Tulsa, or California.

Gene,
It's a rally for the GMC Classics. It's being held at a koa in a casino in Durant. Free beer and senior citizens discounts in the restaurants!!

Hey Gerry;

I wish I would have known earlier. I’ve been lollygagging here at Quartzsite for 2 week. I’m leaving today to head to San Diego to visit an old Navy friend tomorrow then head up the coast to visit family and friends. Was hoping to see you in Kerby in March. Spending all of February with Manny helping him out. How about Mexico next year?
