Putting the net to the test: need access to waterjacket for an additional sensor on 455.

I need to find a place to put a water temp sensor.

I have the Offenbauer Intake manifold and my water temp for the dash uses
one and for the EFI the other that are available near the front. I couldn't
find any others. Did I miss it?

Are there any other places on the heads or block or? where I could screw in
a 1/8" NPT sensor?

Is anyone monitoring Oil temperature? If so, where/how re sensor location.

I was going to go with an earlier suggestion of teeing into the oil line
going to rad but have decided against that for now as it would be disturbing
too much stuff and I'm not quite ready to open the next can of worms. Trying
for "only one can open at a time" :-)

Thanks in advance

Hmmm... what catches aluminum ? :-)
Would I be correct in guessing/assuming that a few aluminum scraps in the
water wouldn't hurt?

Heinz,

The intake is usually the only thing used for water temp, but there are
drain plugs in the block that might work (knock sensor for fuel injection
would be mounted in one, the other side should still have pipe plug). I
don't know if the temp there would correlate with the temp at the intake
though. I also don't know if it is good to stick anything into these holes
past the threads.

I'm thinking that the AV-10 must use a somewhat standard sensor. You might
ask the company if either the EFI sensor (probably a GM sensor) or the dash
gauge sensor would work with the AV-10. Then you could just tap off the
wires of one of your existing sensors. Most of the fuel injection
companies use GM sensors, but I guess an aviation company might use sensors
from one of the more common plane engine manufacturers

You could probably drill and tap another hole in the intake somewhere if
all else fails.
