The 77/78 403's came from GM with a very strong plastic/fiber fan shroud. This fan fits perfectly just ahead of the shroud venture. And the fans outer ring makes for a very smooth transition to the shroud. Thus the shroud didn't have to be cut at all. I did make the one piece shroud into a two piece. Upper/lower. This will make that area more excisable in the future. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale

I'm thinking of installing one of these fans on my coach, but from what I can tell, this fan is not supposed to work with an early fan shroud.
However, I'm not entirely sure my coach still has the early shroud.... Does anyone know where I can find some pics of the different shrouds that
came on the various years of GMCs?

Mark,

The fan is not compatible with the "Horse collar" shroud. If there are brackets between the engine and the shroud, that is what you have. If there
are none and no hard ring at the fan tips, then something has been changed, You might be able to simply remove the rubber part of the existing should
and then have room for the new fan.

If I were not otherwise busy, I would check this for you. I may have time later in the week.
