Scott,

I thought the armature should slide off the thru-stud
but since I was unable to pull the armature with it in
place I decided to pull the stud first.

I used a coupling nut (7/16" NC) and a bolt to
lock onto the stud. The stud then turned out
easier than I expected. No corrosion or anything.

With the stud out the armature came out just like
the book said.

Maybe I could have been more agressive hitting
the bearing end, and removed it without removing
the stud first but the end result was as desired
..........no expensive self inflicted surprises.

Tommorow I need to see if I can get a replacement
rear thrust washer (last time somebody assembled
it the thrust washer went in crooked) and some
shims.........set the end play and put it back together.

With any luck maybe it will make electricity again
in 1999!!!!

Thanks for your help
